“Opergy’s goal is to take the pain away from any transitional process, whether that pain be time, be resource, or whatever it may be – we can ease it entirely.”
Our Associate Director for Offshore Renewables, Sarah Miller, is front and centre when it comes to our Business Development Services, where we work to empower companies to enhance their market presence, establish a competitive edge, and drive sustainable growth across multiple sectors.
“We offer a safe, comfortable place to be innovative and to grow,” explains Sarah. But how, exactly, does it all work? How do we stand beside you, guide you, and help you become the best version of you, you can be?
It all starts with making sure we’ve got the right data.
Taking the time
When establishing a new customer, we often find they are very good at what they do and have a strong project or product they want to push. Where the problems start is not quite understanding where it could sit in a new market.
That’s why we sit down with you and take the time to get to know your company. “A lot of my intelligence has always been gained from the company itself,” says Sarah. “What we find really quite enriching is the workshop process.”
The workshop process sees us spend a day with a customer and a company, working to truly understand who they are and what it is they want to achieve. It’s very much a two-way learning process, as you get to know us too, with our shared aim creating an action list for gathering the data we need to help drive you to success.
We work out what the project landscape is, the policy landscape we’re working within, the history at place, the timelines we’re working towards, who the key competitors you are facing, what the norm is for your type of service today, where it sits compared to the competition, and the key people you should be speaking to, as well as the networks you should be looking to create.
“I think that offers a unique approach, being a consultancy that spends that integral time with a client getting to know them,” says Sarah.
True understanding
Following the workshop, we build our intelligence and create you a package with a strategy. This is entirely dependent on you, too. It can take lots of different shapes and this is all driven by what your goal is. Are you looking to approach the funding market? Or are you looking to the customer market? Wherever you are at on your journey, all of this is driven by what it is you want to achieve.
Opergy will then return to you with a sum of all materials and the answers to your problems, handing you a directive for where you go next.
“What we think offers true understanding,” starts Sarah. “Is that very itinerarised step-by-step process – ‘if you want to achieve this, then you must do A, B, C’ whether that’s sorting out your internal messaging, or ensuring your training competencies are up to date, or whatever else.”
It’s a substantial piece of work that can take various forms and fill gaps that are highlighted during the workshop process, all in service of taking a company to the next steps of their journey.
“That is ultimately our goal,” says Sarah. “We want to ensure the supply chain are completely ready and confident in their new market.”
